Academic assessments for 7+, 11+, 13+, SATs, GCSEsWhat is an academic assessment?

An academic assessment is a way to find out what students know, how well they know it and any gaps they may have in their learning. It is a good indication of where they are at academically.

An assessment is also a good way to find out which school might be a good fit for your child based on their ability.

As well as assessing new students that join our tutoring centre in Brentwood, we also regularly assess our existing students to make sure they’re retaining everything they’re being taught.

An assessment is the first step if you’re thinking of signing up for private tuition for your primary or secondary school child. Our assessments are free and are carried out by qualified educators.

What happens after the assessment?

Once we have established your child’s needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child’s learning. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the tutor, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

After the assessment, we will put together the result of the assessment in a report and create a recommended course of action based on your child’s performance in the assessment. We will have a chat with you to go through the report and the next steps. If you’re happy with our recommendation, your child can start attending the centre for regular tuition or can sign up to our online tutoring.
